Q: What does Calisa mean?
A: Because Calisa Herbal Remedies is a family run business, it is only fitting that it should represent my three main reasons for wanting healthier options: Our children! Ca = Caden, Li = Liam, Sa = Safryn.
Q: What type of business is Calisa Herbal Remedies?
A: We manufacturer everything ourselves, and market directly to consumers, through our social media platforms. We are not a direct sales business (customers can buy from us, and not go through third parties), and we are not a multi-level marketing (MLM) company (there are no down-lines, no membership fees, no requirement to have inventory, etc.).
Q: Where do you get your product formulas?
A: Our owner, Megan, has studied herbs and natural remedies for many years, and is currently in the process of furthering her education and certifications within herbalism. She formulates our products based on her knowledge and research. It’s not unusual for our formulas to go through 3 – 4 (or more!) versions, plus a testing process, before we are ready to release them.
Q: How are your products tested? Do you send them to a lab?
A: We have a team of people we test on! This includes ourselves, our families, and volunteer affiliates at times. We start with such safe ingredients that we feel completely comfortable jumping straight to human testing. At this time, we do not perform any lab tests on our products. We also do extensive research into our suppliers, to guarantee the content and safety of our raw materials.

Q: Do you use safety seals?
A: Right now, our products are all made in our one production facility in Lincoln, NE and shipped directly to the customer. There is no third party involved. As long as your package arrives unopened, you can be sure that nothing has been tampered with. For this reason, we do not currently use safety seals. As we expand though, we do plan to add safety seals once our business has reached a level to accommodate equipment that would automate this process.
Q: Do you make your own products?
A: Yes! If it’s branded as Calisa Herbal Remedies, it’s something that we handmade in our manufacturing facility, based in Lincoln, NE. We don’t outsource our work at all.
Q: What is the shelf life of your products?
Because our products are 100% natural with no artificial preservatives, they do expire. Products that are applied topically have a shelf life of about 1 year. Any glycerin and alcohol tinctures have a shelf-life of 2 years (from the start of the creation process). You can extend the shelf life by keeping your products in the refrigerator, although it is not required. Products are safe to use past the expiration date, as long as they do not smell rancid (oil-based) or have visible mold (this is very rare unless contamination has occurred at home). The expiration dates are very loose estimates (simply how long we’ll guarantee a product for) and products usually last much longer.
Q: Are your products cruelty-free or vegan?
A: Our products are cruelty-free! We do not test on animals ever. (Actually, we test on ourselves!) We do have some vegan products; however, please ensure you read the ingredients list under each product's description BEFORE purchasing.
Q: Are your products certified organic?
A: We are not organic certified; however, we do our best to ensure all materials obtained from our suppliers are organic. It’s more important to us to stay affordable than to pursue an expensive certification. But please rest assured, we use as many organic ingredients as we can in our products. If a product is not 100% organic it will be specified within the ingredients list.
Q: Do you use corn, soy, gluten, parabens, fragrances, etc. in your products?
A: No, we absolutely do not. We stay away from all major allergens (corn, soy, gluten, nuts) as well as anything that is not completely natural. That means no parabens, no sulfates, no fragrances, no SLS, no preservatives. We use only natural plant oils, butters, and herbs to create our products.
Q: Why are there slight variations in products received, or slight imperfections?
A: All products are handcrafted, which means slight variations or imperfections can occur; but they are cosmetic only and do not affect the function of the product. For example, hard butters containing palmitic or stearic acid in large amounts (shea, mango, kokum) can sometimes bead up in products. This just means we don’t use any synthetics to prevent it from happening! We think of it as, you know it was made with naturally-occurring ingredients instead of a bunch of synthetic chemicals!
Q: When can I expect my product to ship?
A: It’s our goal to ship orders out as quickly as possible (we ship M – F), but during sales or busy times, orders may be delayed. Typically, your order will arrive 2 – 5 days after it has shipped, depending on how long it takes the shipping carrier to process it. If you’ve purchased during a sale, especially a large one like Black Friday, please expect delays from both Calisa Herbal Remedies and potentially the shipping carriers as well. You will receive a shipping notification and tracking information when your order ships.
Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: At this time we do not ship internationally, but plan to very soon!

Q: What if I order and need to cancel it?
A: If you need to cancel your order after it is placed, please contact CustomerService@calisaherbal.com ASAP. Most orders ship out within a few business days, so prompt contact is needed. If you contact us before your order has shipped, we will refund you in full and cancel your order. If you contact us after your order has been shipped, please mark the box “RETURN TO SENDER” and send the package back to us unopened. Once we have received your order, we will refund you minus shipping charges. While not commonly done, we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee for cancelled orders.
Q: What if I want to add to my order?
A: Unfortunately, we can’t add to orders that have already been placed. Please place a second order if you forgot anything!
Q: What if I want to return an item?
A: If an item arrives damaged, is missing any parts, or is the wrong item or quantity, please contact us immediately and we will fix it. Opened items may not be returned, sorry. Calisa Herbal Remedies accepts returns under the following conditions:
- Products with a defect/issue
If a product is defective, please email us pictures of the product issue. If a product has broken or spilled during shipping, we require these pictures to be able to send your replacement product. Once we have talked to you, we will ship out a replacement product as soon as possible. If there is any delay (i.e. if the product is out of stock), we will contact you to make arrangements or issue a refund.
